Every day you feed your body. But who feeds your soul?

Your soul will not be satisfied with earthly food. It craves the connection with the divine. Feed it.

Surround yourself with inspiration. Music, good books, good friends. Meditation. Yoga. Good healthy food.

But also make sure your mind is not being led astray. Negative thoughts will steal the good food from your soul.

Be alert. Catch the negative thought as it comes in. Stop it in its tracks.

The truth is pure and bright. Negativity is the devil’s seed. He plants it in you to take you away from the life of joy that is your birthright. Your soul is full of light. No darkness lives there. If you allow the negative thoughts in, the soul is starving.

Feed your soul.

Let each moment be a Zen moment. Be in the now. Feel everything around you as if it is a very precious thing. Appreciate everything.

The snow on the ground is pristine and beautiful. Don’t complain that you have to shovel it. Enjoy.

The night is dark and cold, brilliant with stars. Don’t wish it were summer. Look up, if you dare, at the heavens filled with the unknowable universe. You are a part of that.

Touch your skin. It protects you. Appreciate it. Don’t complain if you have blemishes caused by age. Know that each spot on you represents time in this world, learning, sowing, growing your soul.

As you reach out, the universe reaches out to you.

Feed your soul with sunshine, inside and out. Walk in it for as long as you can, as often as you can. See it shine on the water. Lift your face to it. Stretch out your hands and feel it. Glorify in it. See the face of God in it. You are that Sunlight.

Where is your soul hiding now? Is it buried in deep despair? Does it have a cover of dark thoughts that keeps it from receiving the light? Take off the layers of disguise. They are a thin disguise anyway, for who can truly hide the soul? Its brilliance is beyond belief. It sparkles, it shines, it penetrates the deepest pain. It holds you up, when all else fails.

Once there was a man who thought he knew his soul. He talked about it to others and told them what it was like. It’s mine, he claimed. I am the master of my soul. I command my own destiny.

One day he died. His soul went on to another realm. His body lay in the ground. Who was the master then?

We have to know that we are given a soul by a higher power. It is on loan. We owe everything to the One.

We are adrift on a boundless ocean. But we have sails or paddles to propel us along. We feel that we are in command. But are we? Without our souls, we are nothing. An empty vessel with no one to steer it, and nowhere to go.

Feed your soul.

And what should I feed my soul?

Only good food, says the Master. I will eat only good food.

How do we know what the soul eats?

You will know, answered the Master. When you feed your soul sadness, it will not eat. It cannot grow on sadness. When you feed it despair and hopelessness, it will die and you with it.

Feed your soul only the choicest food, prepared with love.

Feed it Light from heaven’s kingdom. Meditate on the kingdom every day. Early in the morning sit quietly and contemplate the rising sun. Feel the light as part of your own soul. Be grateful for all you have. Thank the sun for the light of your soul that guides your whole being to a greater world, here on earth.

Feed it Love from God. The divine love of the spiritual heart is all it wants to eat. This love does not ask for anything, and it expects nothing from you. All it wants is to live and love, feel love, offer love, become love. There is no greater gift than love.

Feed it power. Be surcharged with the energy of the soul, fierce with power to heal and to help others. That power is yours. Your soul power is a blessing.

Feed it peace on earth. That peace you feel in your heart is God’s smile. You are alive in Him. Your peace is profound. It cannot be shattered. That too, is the soul’s food.

The power of your soul is increased every time you feed it. When you offer it the richest, purest food, it will grow stronger and feed your whole being, and empower your life to do great things for God.

I am. That is the message of the soul to you.

You are a soul. That is who you are with and without your mind and body. The soul exists on its own and will go on without you when you die. Respect it for its eternal qualities. Feed it only the best you can. Feed it your fervent prayers, your sincere desire to be perfect in its sight, to be worthy of its gift inside you.

Where is your soul in the darkest hour? It has not forsaken you. Even in struggles, it lives, and watches over you, helps you when you listen, feeds you when your mind is weak, and comforts you when you reach out to it. Your soul is your nearest, dearest friend who will never leave you. You may ignore it for as long as you can, but it will ultimately win you over. That is your destiny.

Feed the soul your lunch. Share a laugh or two. Smile together at a baby with bright eyes. Stroke the ears of a gentle animal. Know the soul of the world as a part of your own. You are not alone. Your soul is connected to the world soul, the universal soul, the soul that guides eternity.

Such a treasure you have within your own mortal being.

Feed it gold. Honour it like royalty. Feed it frankincense as you meditate on the ethereal universe that unfolds before you. Feed it myrrh as in death you will become totally one.

Your soul is connected to you in an eternal grip. Where do you begin and where does it end? It is all the same being, one seems external, the other internal. But they are both two sides of the same coin, the snake eating its own tail, the green man forever growing out of the trees.

Now is the time to feed your soul the best food. Do not delay. The days in this life are running short. Do not waste your time in sadness, anger or worry. Rest in your soul. Feed it to make it strong in you. Recognize it as your greatest part.

Get up early and meditate. Listen to your soul. Meditate before you go to bed and dream of peace. In the heat of the day, mediate on life’s sound and on its eternal soundlessness. Know that no matter what is going on around you, your immortal soul is with you. Feel joy.

Peace on earth is yours to claim. Feed your soul and be happy for the rest of your life.

The End
