Baja Clavius | by Madeira Desouza Feb. 07, 2012 | 20846 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: I was born in the United States into a Portuguese-American culture that was dominated by the Roman Catholic Church. In that culture there was no room for anything but macho and tough males, who were expected to produce babies. Of course, this was intended to happen after getting married, never before. The more tough you looked and acted, and the higher the number of offspring you generated, the more masculine you were perceived to be in that culture. This worship of testosterone runs hot and freely in many other ethnic groups in the US, but it is particularly evident in those of Mediterranean origin like mine. Growing up in that culture ensured my social programming was to think that I was straight. How I discovered the truth about being gay is worth pursuing in some detail at my website. I was formally educated in the art and craft of storytelling, photography, news reporting, etc. when I worked towards earning my undergraduate degree in journalism. In the professional context, I learned that telling a story is an essential ingredient if one wants to connect with an audience. I am an illustrator and storyteller who chooses to produce depictions in text and images that include themes of masculine men in peril. My depictions of masculine vulnerable men in peril have a high level of dramatic tension and energy. To me, depicting love expressed between one man and another man in images or stories is not sufficiently dramatic in the storytelling sense. In contrast, stories about breaking up or suffering the loss of a love contain far more dramatic energy for the audience. The man-meets-man-and-falls-in-love-and-then-they-live-happily-ever-after story is not for me as a steady diet. Such storytelling (in text or visual form) emphasizes the powerful but false belief that life turns out happily and positive for everyone. |

In 9 Days | by Red Phoenix Feb. 07, 2012 | 16291 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: I love romance and I love good sex. It is a healthy combination in real life, which is why I started writing. I wanted stories that touched on the ups and downs of lovers and the unique sexual experiences that make life a ton more fun. * The Sensual Erotica series are stand-alone scenarios made to excite and titillate, but all are interconnected. I hope you will enjoy the palate of sensual experiences contained in the series. Pick and choose the ones that speak to you, or be a little naughty and sneak a peek at one you've always been curious about. I lovingly call the series "The sexual adventures of T&A." Follow the lives of Troy & Amy as they make their way in the world and hopefully back into each other's arms. The short stories are written from either Troy's or Amy's point of view, so you get both sides. * The Keeper of the Wolf Clan is a novelette about a werewolf clan who practices the Bonding Ritual every full moon. Sexy...and taboo. Layla had a story to be told and she chose me to tell it. Enjoy! * In 9 Days - This sweet novelette is a coming of age story that centers on loving acceptance. Tessa finds Kevin Reese alluring despite the burns covering his body. She is willing to defy friends and family in order to love him. Claude & Sophia | by Shane Greenhough Feb. 07, 2012 | 2000 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: I'm a South African writer of awesome proportions! My work is simple and fairly direct, if somewhat heavy-handed, with each story carrying an observational message, or moral of sorts. Mostly working in the short story, or flash fiction style I've several pieces in the works that expand upon that theme by bonding a number of shorts into a larger work that weaves a greater tale from the threads of shorter ones. Delving into my professional background seems to me to be uninteresting, so I'm not going to bore you with those details here. |
